Deschamps praises Olise: "The closer he is to goal, the better he is"

After calling Michael Olise into his France squad for the first time, Didier Deschamps was full of praise for the Bayern Munich star.

When Didier Deschamps named his squad for this month's games against Italy and Belgium, Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise was included for the first time.

Explaining his decision to call up Olise at a press conference ahead of Friday's clash with Italy, Deschamps was full of praise for the 22-year-old.

"He has great potential. He is a young player, who is making progress," Deschamps said, adding:

"The closer he is to the goal, the better he is."

On how he plans to use the winger, Deschamps said:

“He can play on either flank, although I think he feels more at home on the right than on the left.”
