After several outgoing moves over the summer fell through, Hungarian central defender Attila Szalai is headed out on loan again. Belgian transfer journalist Sacha Tovolieri reports that the 26-year-old will move to Standard Liege for the rest of the season on a short-term-deal.

To date, the heavily capped Hungarian international's made just seven Bundesliga appearances over the last 18 months. An inter-Bundesliga loan to SC Freiburg during the second half of the 2023/24 campaign produced only three appearances.

Neither Pellegrino Matarazzo nor Christian Ilzer found any use for Szalai during the current campaign. He made no appearances under either trainer and was only included in the match-day squad once. His estimated market worth has fallen from a peak of €15 million to €2 million.
