Emre Can a slight doubt for Dortmund's clash with Atletico

Emre Can is slightly questionable for Borussia Dortmund's clash with Atletico Madrid due to illness.

On Tuesday, Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Can was supposed to sit alongside head coach Edin Terzic at the pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday night's Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Atletico Madrid.

However, it was decided at the last minute that Felix Nmecha would replace Can at the presser, leading to speculation about the captain's availability on Wednesday.

Terzic later revealed that Can didn't attend the press conference because he felt slightly ill before Dortmund's departure for Madrid. But he also insisted that he was expecting the midfielder to be available.

"Emre is doing quite well so far, he was just a bit sick this morning before the departure," Terzic told reporters, adding:

“We took it easy on him a bit. We'll see how it goes. We're confident that he'll be able to play tomorrow.”

If Can is not fit enough to start, Nmecha is likely to take his place in the middle of the park alongside Marcel Sabitzer.
