Fortuna to activate release clause to sign Tzolis from Norwich, per report

Fortuna Düsseldorf are reportedly ready to make Christos Tzolis' loan move from Norwich City permanent.

Christos Tzolis worked wonders for Fortuna Düsseldorf on loan from Norwich City in the 2023/24 season, scoring 24 goals and laying on 10 assists in 37 appearances in all competitions.

Bild now reports that, despite missing out on promotion to the Bundesliga, the second-division side want to activate a 3.5 million release clause in Tzolis' contract to sign him permanently.

According to the German tabloid, the transfer was approved by the supervisory board on Wednesday, with Tzolis set to sign a three-year contract with the club.

Fortuna came agonizingly close to being promoted to the Bundesliga, but ultimately lost the relegation/promotion playoff game to Bochum on penalties after the two-legged tie ended 3-3.

Tzolis joined Norwich from PAOK in 2021 and has since scored three goals and provided two assists in 30 appearances for the English Championship side.

The winger has made 13 appearances for the Greek national team, finding the net once.
