Mark Flekken is expected to take over as Bayer Leverkusen’s No. 1 for the 2025/26 season following his move from Brentford.

But Lukas Hradecky has made it clear he won’t surrender his starting spot without a fight.

“I’m not going to give up my place just like that,” the 35-year-old told Bild.

“But it’s perfectly normal to start thinking when there’s a new situation. You can’t really predict the future in football. Of course, I’ll speak with the new coach [Erik ten Hag], and then I’ll be a lot wiser.”

Hradecky, who is under contract with Leverkusen until 2026, went on to admit that he could consider a move this summer if regular playing time is not on the cards.

“I feel good enough to keep playing for a few more years,” said the Finland captain.

“So I think it’s fair to at least listen if something special comes up again at my age.”
