Leverkusen remain hopeful of keeping Tah, report claims

Jonathan Tah has directly stated that he wants to leave Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer at the end of the season. However, according to Bild, Die Werkself are still hoping to extend his contract.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich over the summer, but ended up staying put as the two clubs couldn't agree on a transfer fee.

Since then, the Germany international has stated that he wants to leave Leverkusen when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Sky Germany reported earlier this month that there is now an "open race" for Tah's signature, with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and English Premier League clubs all interested.

However, according to Bild, Leverkusen have not given up hope that the 28-year-old will stay and sign a new deal. The coming months will show just how justified that hope is.
