Manuel Neuer sets new Champions League record

With Bayern‘s 1-0 victory at home against Arsenal, club captain Manuel Neuer set a new Champions League record for the most clean sheets in the tournament‘s history.

FC Bayern München have qualified for the Champions League semifinals after defeating Mikel Arteta‘s Arsenal team 3-2 on aggregate.

One player in particular will be very pleased with the latest 1-0 win: Bayern captain Manuel Neuer!

He now holds the record for being the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets: Neuer didn‘t concede a goal in 58 out of 138 games in the competition!

Second to him is Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas with 57, followed by Gianluigi Buffon (52), Edwin van der Sar (50) and Petr Cech (47).

Out of the top 5 goalkeepers on this list, Neuer is the only active one - which mean he could extend his lead and his record even further.

Jan Oblak (35) and Marc-André ter Stegen (32) are the next two active goalkeepers, who could maybe one day dethrone Manuel Neuer.
