Lennart Karl is dreaming of representing Germany at this summer's World Cup.

After FC Bayern Munich’s 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, the young attacker was asked by Kicker how he expects to spend June and July.

“I know what you mean. But for me, the only thing that counts is giving everything at Bayern – only then can I hope for a call-up. Anyone who doesn’t hope for something like that has no place in football,” replied Karl, who turned 18 on Sunday.

So far, Karl has had no direct contact with Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann.

“Not yet, no,” said the youngster, who made his debut for the German U21 national team in November.

“Being with the U21s was really cool, playing alongside all the Bundesliga talents,” he added.

Reflecting on his first season as a senior player, Karl said he is “very satisfied.”

“But of course, there’s always more to achieve,” he continued.

“Hopefully I can score more goals, provide more assists and deliver even better performances.”

So far, Karl has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 31 appearances for Bayern’s senior team.
