Nagelsmann discusses starting XI against Switzerland

On the eve of Germany's final Euro 2024 group stage match against Switzerland, Julian Nagelsmann was asked about the possibility of making changes to his starting line-up.

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has reiterated that he doesn't plan to make any changes to his starting line-up for Sunday's final group-stage match against Switzerland.

This is despite the fact that Germany have already booked their place in the knockout stages and four players have received yellow cards and are in danger of getting suspended.

Asked about possible changes at a press conference on Saturday, Nagelsmann replied:

" As of now, there are none. The important thing is to keep the rhythm. We don't have a lot of time together.

"I don't take the yellow card situation into consideration because I trust the team. I'd take the example of taking Robert Andrich off and having Pascal Gross play so that Robert would be ready for the round of 16. That would be the most disrespectful thing you could do to Pascal.

"I picked this squad because I trust everybody, because I have the same confidence in everybody, even if they have different roles. The players should give it their all until the rules ban them. Then another player will come in and do just as well. I believe in going all in. We have a good squad for that.

On Switzerland, who are two points behind Germany in Group A, Nagelsmann said:

“It's a very good opponent, certainly the strongest in the group. In terms of the quality of the individual players, I consider Switzerland to be the strongest opponent. We're up to the challenge and want to win our third group game.”
