Nagelsmann gives Germany injury update ahead of opener against Scotland

On the eve of Germany's Euro 2024 opener against Scotland, Julian Nagelsmann gave an update on his team.

Germany will kick off Euro 2024 on Friday evening in Munich when they take on Scotland.

Aleksandar Pavlovic was forced to withdraw from the squad before the game due to tonsilitis, and will be replaced by Emre Can.

Otherwise, there are no injury concerns for the German squad ahead of the game, head coach Julian Nagelsmann revealed at a press conference on Thursday.

"All our players are fit - except Pavlovic. The tonsillitis is so serious that he won't be able to play in the near future. A big compliment to the medical staff. I can rely on all options and am looking forward to tomorrow evening," said Nagelsmann.

On his starting eleven, Nagelsmann said:

“Each player knows his role. But this distribution of roles is not a free pass. We have a starting eleven in mind. If one of the starters doesn't perform at his best, we have guys who will put pressure on him. We want to give the players psychological security. Everyone in the team is encouraged to give their all.”
