All signs point to Vincent Kompany becoming the new Bayern Munich coach, with several reports claiming that the Bavarians have a full deal in place to hire the Burnley manager as Thomas Tuchel's successor.

Ahead of Saturday's DFB-Pokal final between Bayer Leverkusen and Kaiserslautern, Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann was asked about the 38-year-old, who played under former Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola, among others, during his playing career.

"I don't know him very well or personally, but I wish him all the best. I've heard that he's a very good coach. He learned a lot from great coaches who trained him. That's why he'll do well," Nagelsmann said on German television.

The fact that Bayern are coming off a disappointing season in which they didn't win the title and finished third will make Kompany's job easier, according to Nagelsmann.

"The club is in a state of upheaval. It's good for the club that they haven't won the league. A young coach can make more changes now that they haven't been champions".
