Chelsea forward Timo Werner was reportedly on the verge of joining Bayern München in the past.

In fact, according to Der Spiegel, he had already signed a contract with Bayern during the 2018/19 season that would see him join the Bavarians in 2020.

However, when Werner found out that he wasn't wanted by then Bayern coach Niko Kovac and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, he cancelled the deal, which was arranged by Uli Hoeness, the club's president at the time.
