Arnold and Weghorst brush off talk of records after loss
Neither VfL Wolfsburg's all-time stats chasers found themselves in much of a talkative mood after Saturday's loss.

With his start on Saturday, German international Maximilian Arnold drew even with Diego Benaglio for the most appearances ever in a VfL Wolfsburg tricot. In 15 years with the club, the 27-year-old commemorated 259 appearances for the green company team that brought him in as a youth in 2009.
Speaking to the Sky microphones afterward, Arnold made clear that the statistic wasn't on his mind.
"I'm a footballer," Arnold reminded his interviewer, "I'm not so interested in individual records at the moment. I'd rather have won here today that be talking about my 'who-knows-what' game."
"I'm definitely not going to unwrap anything today," the side's midfield anchor continued, "I'm very disappointed. When you lose the last three games and concede eight goals, that's quite a lot. We should have long ago come to the conclusion that we need to do everything to defend the goal."
The Sky reporters also wanted to get something out of Wout Weghorst following his sensational benching by head-coach Mark van Bommel. The Dutch striker is chasing his own club records. One more goal in the VfL colors will see him draw level with Diego Klimowicz for third all-time on the club's scoring list.
Despite some prodding from the Sky staff, Wolfsburg's leading goalscorer in the current campaign didn't take the bait.
"The coach told me this week that I wouldn't be playing from the start," Weghorst noted, "[he said] he believed that we would do better with those three [Lukas Nmecha, Luca Waldschmidt, and Dodi Lukebakio] up front. It's not for me to talk about. I think everyone is doing their best."
