Hertha BSC keeping tabs on Bremen marksman

The Polish striker is being linked with a move to Die Alte Dame.

BILD are reporting that Hertha Berlin are in a race to find a worthy goalscorer to lead the line ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Head coach Stefan Leitl is looking to add a new center forward to their ranks, putting Dawid Kownacki from SV Werder Bremen on their list.

Since the 2.Bundesliga club from the German capital is desperate to fight for promotion, they need a goal-scoring number nine.

Haris Tabakovic has provided that in the 2023-24 campaign with 22 goals, while Kownacki netted 13 on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf last season.

It seems unlikely that Werder's new head coach Horst Steffen plans with Kownacki, so the door would be open for the striker to leave.

According to Bild, the Bremen bosses are said to be demanding a fee of around €3.5million – a sum that Hertha will find difficult to manage.

Düsseldorf also declined the agreed-upon €2.5million purchase option despite the 28-year-old making 29 appearances last season.
