The German U21 international will make the switch to WWK-Arena in the summer as a free agent, having signed a contract until 2027.
"We have closely followed his development over the last few years from an academy player to a Bundesliga professional at SpVgg Greuther Fürth and are convinced that he will successfully continue his development with us here. We are very pleased that Maximilian Bauer was convinced by our plans and that he decided to make the move to FCA," commented Augsburg boss Stefan Reuter.
Bauer, who came through the youth ranks at Greuther Fürth, said:
"I'm extremely grateful to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, my teammates, the board and the fans for such a brilliant time. I want to develop further as a player and a person with this move. FCA offer amazing opportunities for young players to establish themselves. Therefore, I am looking forward to new challenges next season.
"Everyone involved with Fürth can be sure that I will do everything to contribute to the success of the Cloverleaves before leaving in the summer."
