Markus Weinzierl is understood to be an option to replace Sebastian Hoeness as Hoffenheim coach.

Hoffenheim announced their decision to part company with Hoeness yesterday, and 'Die Kraichgauer' have Weinzierl on their list of possible successors, with the club looking for an experienced Bundesliga coach, according to Bild.

Weinzierl has confirmed that he will not be extending his contract with Augsburg, which expires in the summer.

The 47-year-old has had two stints at Augsburg and has previously coached Jahn Regensburg, Schalke 04 and VfB Stuttgart as well.
