James Rodriguez' loan deal with Bayern München expires next summer. The Bavarians hold an option to sign the offensive midfielder permanently from Real Madrid for €42 million, but are currently in no rush to do so, says Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

"In our agreement, there is an option that we can use until the 15th of June 2019. We are only in November, and I don't think it makes sense to talk about this topic right now," Rummenigge told Bild.

According to Kicker, Bayern look unlikely to tie James Rodriguez down to a permanent deal at the moment.

Rodriguez is currently sidelined with a knee injury and isn't expected to return before 2019. That's a real shame, says Rummenigge.

"Everyone at the club is convinced that he is a great footballer. Unfortunately, he's injured now. I don't expect him to be available more this year. That's a shame, because he's a player who always does a lot offensively so we can score goals. We have to live with that, but then we'll have a lot of fun in January," the Bayern boss said.

Since James Rodriguez joined Bayern from Real Madrid on loan in the summer of 2017, he has made 50 appearances with 11 goals and 16 assists to his name.
