Former German international Stefan Effenberg has questioned the management structure at Bayern München.
According to the 50-year-old, it's becoming a problem that Bayern president Uli Hoeness and CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge are so dominant.
"Hoeness and Rummenigge are the sole rulers - and that is slowly becoming a problem in many ways," Effenberg wrote in a column for t-online.de and added that Hoeness in particular has appeared "sovereign" lately.
Hoeness is known for his public outbursts, but his blunt and outspoken leadership style is not 'up-to-date' according to Effenberg.
"Leadership means listening, giving trust, communicating and justifying. The somewhat populistic way of making loud proclamations is certainly no longer up-to-date. I'm familiar with Uli. I don't know if he wants to listen, and he doesn't have to read this column. But even at a slightly older age, you can still learn," Effenberg wrote.
Effenberg also criticized Hoeness' decision to only guarantee that Bayern München coach Kovac would keep his job for the upcoming game against Benfica.
"That's a statement that doesn't work - with all due respect. To only guarantee that he will stay in charge for one game doesn't have much to do with trust," he stated.
Bayern München will face Benfica tonight at 21:00 (UTC+1).
