Nagelsmann gives final updates: Neuer out for Freiburg, Musiala to begin on bench

At his final pre-match presser, FC Bayern Münjchen trainer Julian Nagelsmann confirmed that Manuel Neuer will be unavailable for Sunday's league fixture against Freiburg.

Further updates were given on the status of five players were also disseminated at the presser.
Following up on injury status updates from earlier in the week, Julian Nagelsmann officially announced that keeper Manuel Neuer's shoulder problems will keep the German national team net-minder sidelined for Sunday's encounter with SC Freiburg. Just as in the midweek Champions' League match against Viktoria Plzen, Sven Ulreich will start between the sticks.

Nagelsmann also noted that Jamal Musiala (returning from a COVID infection) would be in the matchday squad, yet definitely wouldn't start after missing out on several squad training sessions. The FCB trainer said he felt comfortable with the progress of Thomas Müller (also returning from COVID and having back issues), Matthjis de Ligt (hip issues), and Serge Gnabry (knee capsule injury).

Alphonso Davies (return from a concession) and Lucas Hernandez (recovering from a muscle tear sustained in September) might both be available for the starting left-back role. Davies seems the more likely choice given the short term nature of his absence. Nagelsmann confirmed that the Canadian international had been symptom free over the last few days.
