VfB Stuttgart captain Christian Gentner has been included in the squad for Tuesday's away game against VfL Wolfsburg.

Gentner has insisted he wants to play in Stuttgart's two final games of the year against Wolfsburg and Schalke 04 despite the loss of his father who tragically passed away after the club's 2-1 home win against Hertha BSC on Saturday.

"Everyone reacts differently in such a difficult situation. It was clear from the outset that we would respect whatever Christian decided to do against VfL Wolfsburg and Schalke 04," Stuttgart sporting director Michael Reschke told vfb.de and added:

"It says a lot about his affinity with the club and the Gentner family’s remarkable relationship with VfB that Christian is going to play in both matches. His decision deserves a lot of respect."

Wolfsburg and Stuttgart will meet on Tuesday at 20:30 CET.
