Wirtz to start for Leverkusen against Bochum?

Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso is hoping that Florian Wirtz will be fit enough to start against VfL Bochum in mid-week.
Florian Wirtz was widely expected to start for Bayer Leverkusen against Gladbach yesterday, but only made a late substitute appearance in his team's 3-2 win due to illness.

In an interview after the game, Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso indicated that Wirtz will come into the starting line-up against Bochum on Wednesday if he's deemed fit enough.

"We need 'Flo' Wirtz, even if he was a bit weak today," Alonso said at the post-match press conference.

"He trained very well and will of course be there on Wednesday. We will decide how much he plays in the next few days."

Wirtz missed the entire first half of the season due to a cruciate ligament rupture.
