Bayern München coach Niko Kovac has made some changes to the hierarchy in his team during the winter break, Bild reports.

Most importantly, Robert Lewandowski is now the team's third captain - behind captain Manuel Neuer and vice-captain Thomas Müller.

It was already present that the striker has been given more responsibility in November when he took part in a crisis talk with the Bayern bosses along with Neuer, Müller and Franck Ribéry.

In the past season, former Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes chose Ribéry as his third captain, because his main criterias when picking his captain were the age of the player and the number of games he had played.

Arjen Robben also got the chance to wear the captain's armband, and so did Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels. But - along with Ribery - they have all slipped down the hierarchy.

Robben will definitely leave the club at the end of the season while it's unclear if Hummels, Boateng and Ribery will stay beyond the summer - with the latter of the three also losing credit because of his scandals off the pitch.

According to Bild, this is the current hierarchy:

    1. Captain:
    Manuel Neuer

    2. Vice-captain:
    Thomas Müller

    3. Third captain:
    Robert Lewandowski

    4. The influential group:
Thiago Alcantara, Joshua Kimmich, Arjen Robben

    5. The helpers:
Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels, Franck Ribery
