Confirmed: Heidenheim sign Siersleben permanently
Newly promoted Bundesliga side 1. FC Heidenheim confirmed that they had signed VfL Wolfsburg defender Tim Siersleben on a permanent deal yesterday.
The second of two recent rumored transactions involving new Bundesliga debutants 1. FC Heidenheim was made official yesterday. After unveiling VfL Osnabrück fullback Omar Haktab Traoré on Wednesday, the BaWü border club also confirmed that they had signed on-loan VfL Wolfsburg central defender Tim Siersleben on Thursday.
In reporting on the deal, Germany's Kicker Magazine again claims that the two clubs settled on a base transfer fee of €500,000. VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz is nevertheless also quoted in the article as stating that the Autostädter might have secured a buyback option for the 23-year-old.
"Tim has had a great development there, which we have followed closely," Schindzielorz is quoted as saying, "Now a construct has been found that helps both sides, but at the same time leaves us options for the future."
Siersleben was loaned out to Heidenheim on an extended loan arrangement in the winter of 2021. He became a regular in head-coach Frank Schmidt's starting XI and contested 43 2. Bundesliga fixtures for his loan club. Over the course of the loan, the Magdeburg-native's estimated market worth rose from €250,000 to €1.5 million.
"In the past two years, I have made exactly the developmental steps that I hoped for," Siersleben noted in a statement released by the club "The club made this possible for me, so I'm looking forward to playing for FCH in the upcoming Bundesliga season as well. There, I want to prove myself at the next level and play my part in a successful season."
"'Sieri' has developed super over the last two years with us and matured into an absolute regular in the past season," Heidenheim personnel boss Robert Strauß added, "He now knows our club and the environment very well. That's why we're even more pleased that he's staying here in Heidenheim and will also wear the FCH jersey in the Bundesliga."
The Germany U20 youth international's new deal runs through 2026.
