Union updates: Becker sale finalized, Bedia in capital city for medical

FC Union Berlin took the all-important first step in their winter rebuilding process with confirmation of the sale of attacker Sheraldo Becker to Real Sociedad San Sebastian.

In terms of who Oliver Ruhnert and the FCU Union managerial team will purchase with the proceeds obtained from Becker's sale, a trio of players are all in play.
Sheraldo Becker's transfer to La Liga has been finalized. To much fanfare, Spanish Basque club  welcomed the Dutch Suriname attacker to the team on Thursday Real Sociedad San Sebastian; utilizing the 28-year-old's "Spiderman" moniker to further ramp up the hype. Various German and Spanish footballing media sources report that Union have pocketed roughly €5 million from Becker's sale.

"I will be forever grateful to Union," Becker noted in statement released by the Spanish club, "that's where I became who I am today. Together, we've achieved a lot in four-and-a-half years that few thought we could. I will always be proud of that. Now it's time for me to move on. But the club and the people at Union will always have a place in my heart."

Attention now turns to whom Union will purchase as a replacement for their once indispensable attacker. FC Servette striker Chris Bedia is rumored to be at the top of the list. Germany's Kicker Magazine reports that the 27-year-old is already in the capital city for his medical. Die Eisernen are also linked with Belgian forward Yorbe Vertessen from PSV Eindhoven and Austrian winger Marco Grüll of Rapid Wien.
