The defeat was another blow in a difficult run of form for Leipzig, who have now gone five games without a win.
Their poor form has led to speculation over the future of RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose. However, club captain Willi Orban remains adamant that the former BVB coach is the right man for the job.
"I can't think of a better coach for us at the moment. We have a lot of young players, but they also need to take the next step and become more emotionally mature," Orban told DAZN after the defeat to Inter.
“This is the first crisis we've had with the coach. We have to give him trust. Now it's up to us lads. It's not easy, but we have to come out stronger.”
Commenting on the defeat to Inter, Marco Rose said that Leipzig are currently not performing at their best in many areas.
"Sometimes you get the feeling, also in the last few weeks, that we're lacking a bit in many areas. I thought we were sharper today. But at the moment it's not enough to get anything worthwhile," Rose said, adding that he didn't want to "sugarcoat anything".
“We know why certain things have happened. But we're here to deliver, to fight our way out of it. We're going to stick together and get through it. I'm very sure of that.”
Leipzig will hope to return to winning ways when they take on Wolfsburg at home in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
