Former Germany captain Philipp Lahm has insisted he's not interested in taking over the position as president of the German Football Association (DFB).

The 35-year-old has been mentioned as a possible successor to the current DFB president, Reinhard Grindel.

However, Lahm told German media on Monday evening that he has "absolutely no ambitions to become DFB president".

Several high-ranking DFB officials are reportedly no longer backing Grindel following a recent report from Der Spiegel claiming that the DFB president has received around €78.000 in secret payments between July 2016 and July 2017.

According to Bild, ex-Germany international Christoph Metzelder is also being considered for the position. Contrary to Lahm, the 38-year-old is said to be interested in the job.
