Bayer Leverkusen have singled out Malick Thiaw as a potential Jonathan Tah replacement, BILD reports.

Die Werkself have been pursuing the former Schalke defender for some time and things could really heat up in summer.

Thiaw, who represented Leverkusen at youth level, is open to a return to the Bundesliga.

The German international’s contract expires at AC Milan in 2027, and the Italian club wants him to either commit or leave.

If Leverkusen can offload Odilion Kossounou to Atalanta, the sum could be re-financed into paying Thiaw’s rumoured fee of around €25million.

A move to the reigning German champions could also boost Thiaw’s dreams of participating at the 2026 World Cup.

Regular game time at the BayArena could increase his chances considering he hasn’t represented Germany since Naglesmann took charge.
