Official: Maximilian Eggestein signs new Werder deal

Werder Bremen have extended Maximililian Eggestein's contract.
Maximilian Eggestein has put pen to paper on a new deal with Werder Bremen, the club have announced.

The central midfielder, who has been linked with Borussia Dortmund, has extended his contract which was due to run out in 2020. The club haven't revealed how long the central midfielder's new deal will run.

"It wasn't difficult. I feel very comfortable here. I've been a professional here for some time and I can see that carrying on," Eggestein said, as quoted by the club.

"I hope that I can grow with Werder, so both sides can profit. Our aim in the coming years should be Europe.

"I obviously thought about other offers, but it was clear quite quickly that I wanted to carry on my journey with Werder. I need game time and then I can hopefully reach my full potential," the midfielder said.

Eggestein, 22, has made 32 appearances for Werder this season, scoring six goals and making five assists.

Maximilian Eggestein's younger brother Johannes recently signed a contract extension with Werder as well.
