Werder Bremen have announced that Johannes Eggestein has put pen to paper on a new deal with the club.

Eggestein's deal with Werder was due to run out this summer, but it's now clear that he will be staying at Bremen. The club haven't revealed how long Eggestein's new deal will run.

"Johannes has shown continuous development since joining us in 2013. He has developed into an integral part of our Bundesliga squad through a lot of patience, hard work and good performances. Therefore, we're all more than pleased that 'Jojo' has decided to continue his path with us," Werder sporting director Frank Baumann said, as quoted by the club.

Eggestein said he's happy that he will be able to continue his development at the club.

"I feel very well at Werder and in Bremen, and I'm convinced that I can become an even better Bundesliga player here in the next few years."

The 20-year-old has made 24 appearances this season with four goals and three assists to his name.
