RB Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen had a key role in Denmark's 1-0 win against Peru at the World Cup last night.

The Dane committed a penalty in the first half, but could breathe a sigh of relief when Peru missed the opportunity to score. In the second half, Poulsen was behind the only goal of the match when he sent the ball into the net to end of a well-performed Danish counter-attack.

"It was amazing. I started the game as a villain and finished it as a hero. It was a very turbulent match," Poulsen told Danish TV 2 after the match.

The 24-year-old was awarded the man of the match award after the game, but felt that Danish keeper Kasper Schmeichel deserved it more after making some incredible saves to keep a clean sheet.

"I don't know if it's fair that I was given the man of the match award. I would have given it to Kasper (Schmeichel), but I'm happy and proud," Poulsen told TV 2.

Poulsen made 41 appearances and scored five goals for RB Leipzig during the 2017/18 season.
