Jürgen Klopp to take over as German national team coach in 2022?
The German Football Association is said to be interested in bringing in Jürgen Klopp as Germany coach in 2022.
Jürgen Klopp recently underlined that currently he has no plans of leaving Liverpool with whom he has a contract until 2022. But perhaps he could be tempted to move on when his deal expires.
According to Sport Bild, the German Football Association sees Klopp as a possible successor for Germany coach Joachim Löw whose contract also runs until 2022.
The reports claims that it's highly unlikely that Löw's contract will be extended further, and it currently looks like a new coach will be taking on the preparation for the European Championship on home soil in 2024.
When asked if he has considered bringing in Klopp as national team coach, Germany's general manager, Oliver Bierhoff, told Sport Bild:
"We want to develop internationally successful coaches, and Jürgen Klopp is a model example in this regard. He has a fire burning inside of him. At the end of the day, I think it would be interesting and an honor for every coach to work for the German national team."
Klopp himself said at the beginning of the 2018/19 season that he could imagine taking on the job as Germany coach in the future.
"Should I be asked at some point when I would be available, then I would think about it," he told Die Welt.
The former Borussia Dortmund coach has also been linked with Bayern München recently.
