Report: Bayern are in doubt about Timo Werner

The Bayern München bosses aren't completely convinced that they want to sign Timo Werner.
There are growing doubts within Bayern München as to whether Timo Werner would be a serious reinforcement if he were to join the club from RB Leipzig, Sport1 understands.

The German news outlet reports that there has been no contact between Bayern and Leipzig for days, with the Bavarians currently pondering if they want to bring the 23-year-old to Allianz Arena this summer.

As per the report, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is not one hundred percent convinced by Werner, and there are concerns within the club about the fact that the striker recently lost his starting berth in the German national team.

Furthermore, the Bavarians don't see Werner as an option for the wing, and he would face tough competition from Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Müller in the centre.

The RB Leipzig striker has also been linked with a number of foreign clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, but the 23-year-old and his agent have reportedly decided to put all talks with foreign clubs on hold for the time being, so he can fully switch off during his vacation.

Werner's deal with RB Leipzig runs until 2020, and the club want to sell him this summer if he doesn't sign a contract extension, because they don't want to risk losing him for free next summer.
