After returning to training on Monday following his vacation, Havertz told Kicker:
"Of course I miss him. He wasn't just a teammate, but is also a very good friend of mine. I was really hoping that Leverkusen would somehow be able to hold on to him. Unfortunately, things didn't go that way, but we're still good friends and keep in touch."
While Brandt and Dominik Kohr have left the club, others have joined. Moussa Diaby, Kerem Demirbay and Daley Sinkgraven have all completed moves to BayArena, and Havertz says he has a 'very, very positive' first impression of the newcomers.
"We'll see if anyone else will join us. But we have already strengthened ourselves and will have fun with the players," he said.
Havertz has been linked with a move away from BayArena himself, but the club have made it clear on numerous occasions that he will stay beyond the summer.
