From the start of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, eagle-eyed fans will notice a glaring change on matchday at the BayArena.

Bayer Leverkusen's team will use the bench on the left-hand side when coming out of the tunnel, situated closer to the Nordkurve.

Clearly, the idea is that the substitutes bench will thrive off the emotional energy from Leverkusen's most vocal and passionate supporters.

“The Nordkurve has always been a driving force behind the fantastic atmosphere at the BayArena," said the club's director of sport Simon Rolfes.

"I experienced this first-hand as an active player and especially in recent years in my official capacity.

With this absolutely sensible change, the passion from the stands will be felt even more intensely on and around the bench in future," he added.
