It's looking increasingly unlikely that Mario Götze will put pen to paper on a new deal with Borussia Dortmund.

Negotiations between Mario Götze and Borussia Dortmund over a new contract beyond 2020 have hit a snag, according to Bild.

Dortmund have been in talks with the 27-year-old for weeks, but it doesn't seem like they will reach an agreement anytime soon.

Götze currently earns an annual salary of €10 million. The club are willing to offer him a new contract worth around €8 million a year, but Götze refuses to take a pay cut, as per the report.

At the same time, the fact that the 27-year-old has started on the bench for BVB's first four games of the 2019/20 season probably doesn't make negotiations any easier.

Götze netted seven times and made seven assists in 34 appearances for BVB last season.
