The 29-year-old ultimately returned to Frankfurt on a permanent deal, and he now makes it clear that he doesn't see the German club as a plan B by any means.
"Definitely not. The way it was interpreted kind of shocked me. I didn't mean for it to come across like that at all. But after spending a year on loan at Frankfurt, I had to go back to Paris. I still had a contract there and always approached it professionally," Trapp told Bild and added:
"It wasn't clear at the time what would happen. Besides, I had already said before that it wasn't my decision alone. It was also up to the clubs."
Trapp signed a contract until 2024 with 'Die Adler'.
