Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Laszlo Benes says he is delighted with how the season has unfolded for him so far.

Last season, the 22-year-old played just 26 minutes in the Bundesliga before joining Holstein Kiel on loan during the second half of the season.

But since Marco Rose took over the role as head coach from Dieter Hecking ahead of this season, the 22-year-old has been handed plenty of playing time.

"I'm living my dream right now. I've been fighting for it for three years. I hope it goes on like this. I won't rest now," Benes said in an interview with Bild and added:

"I always try a lot. This also includes shooting at goal often. It would be nice if it would pay off with a goal. But the team comes first for me. We have a really good squad, and I think a lot is possible for us."

Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl is pleased to see Benes developing under Rose.

"He already played very well during pre-season. He's a player who always wants the ball, so he can distribute it further. His development is very pleasing," he said.

Benes has made seven appearances for Gladbach this season, setting up two goals.
