"They wanted me, but I think they were only willing to give me a one-year contract. That was never an option for me. I know myself, my body and my desire to play. I wanted a two-year deal. Fiorentina gave me this opportunity immediately," Ribery said in an interview with Sport Bild.
When asked if he ever really considered joining another club in Germany, Ribery said:
"No, not really. I wanted a new experience, a new country, a new life."
The French winger joined Bayern from Marseille in 2007 and made 425 appearances for the Bavarians, scoring 124 goals and making 182 assists.
