Julian Brandt is determined to play an important role for the German national team in the years to come.

The 23-year-old, who came on in the second half of Germany's 4-0 win over Belarus on Saturday, wants to take his chance when it comes.

"I feel I'm in good hands with the team. I'll get my chance and I want to take it," Brandt told Ruhr Nachrichten and added:

"We have a lot of good, fantastic offensive players. Sometimes it's not so easy, and you have to suppress your ego a bit."

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has made 29 appearances for 'Die Mannschaft', scoring two goals.
