Robert Skov admits he would prefer to play in a more offensive position
Robert Skov is happy with his first half of the season at Hoffenheim despite not playing in his favorite position.
Hoffenheim's Robert Skov has admitted he would like to play in a more offensive position.
Skov, who joined Hoffenheim from FC Copenhagen ahead of this season, is a natural winger, but Hoffenheim coach Alfred Schrueder has often played him at left-back this season.
And while the 23-year-old says he happily does what's considered best for the team, he still sees himself as an offensive player by heart.
"I'm happy that I've played so many games, because that's certainly not a matter of course when you come in as a young newcomer. My development is good and I learn step by step - even if I'm not playing in my favorite position," Skov told Sport Bild and added:
"I'm an offensive player in my heart and gut. The club and the coach know that. But I want to do what's best for the team. It's not like Alfred told me that I'll never play in a more offensive position again. And when I play further forward, I now have an advantage, because I know how defenders think."
Skov scored 32 goals in 48 games for FC Copenhagen last season. He has made 18 appearances for Hoffenheim so far, racking up two goals and four assists.
