Werder Bremen sporting director Frank Baumann won't promise that Florian Kohfeldt will stay on as coach beyond this season.

'The Green-Whites' have stuggled heavily this season and are in the relegation zone, having taken just one point from their last six Bundesliga games.

"This is the most difficult phase that I've experienced here at Werder. I'm very attached to this club. I spend day and night thinking about how to improve the situation," Baumann told ZDF and added:

"One of the realizations of the last few years is that it's no use giving the coach guarantees. The daily togetherness is important and that you want to go in the same direction together.

"We do everything we can to stay in the league. But we are also looking at other scenarios. If things turn out differently, we want to choose the best possible coach. That could very well be Florian," The Werder boss said.

Werder were 2-0 up against Hertha on Saturday, but were forced to settle with a 2-2 draw.
