Bayern München's players recently opted to take a 20 percent pay cut to help the club amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And speaking in an interview with TZ and the Münchner Merkur, club captain Manuel Neuer says it was an easy decision.

"It wasn't a difficult decision at all, because it's a matter of course," the German international said and added:

"We professional footballers are a particularly privileged professional group for whom it is a matter of course to make financial sacrifices when it's needed.

"There are about 1000 employees and many more who perform tasks that are important for the club. As a team, we want to help and offer them security," Neuer underlined.
