Report: Ömer Toprak to join Werder permanently if they avoid relegation

Borussia Dortmund loanee Ömer Toprak is poised to complete a permanent move to Werder Bremen if 'The Green Whites' stay in the Bundesliga.
Ömer Toprak will be joining Werder Bremen permanently from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season unless the club are relegated from the Bundesliga, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.

Last summer, Werder Bremen announced the signing of Ömer Toprak on a season-long loan deal including an obligation to buy the player, which will take effect 'under realistic circumstances'.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Toprak has made the required number of appearances to automatically trigger the clause at the end of the season. The clause only applies if Werder stay in the league, though.

Therefore, should Werder manage to avoid relegation, Toprak will complete a €4,5 million move to Weserstadion, as per the report.

The 30-year-old has played 12 games for Werder so far. He is currently recovering from an ankle problem.
