No Friday night game: The Bundesliga will resume on May 16

The Bundesliga will be returning on Saturday, May 16, meaning the upcoming matchday will not include a Friday night game.

On Wednesday, German authorities gave permission to let the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga return under strict conditions and behind closed doors in the second half of May.

Later that day, The German Football League (DFL) confirmed that the league will resume in the weekend of 15-17 May.

Following a meeting involving the 36 clubs of the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga on Thursday, further details about the continuation of the season have now emerged.

Matchday 26 of the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga will not include a Friday night game, meaning it will begin on Saturday 16 May, DFL chief Christian Seifert said during a press conference.

The top-of-the-table clash between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern München will be played in mid-week on either May 26 or May 27.

The final matchday of the season is set to take place on June 27 or June 28.
