Vedad Ibisevic got on on the scoresheet as Hertha BSC returned to Bundesliga action with a 0-3 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Unlike other teams, the Hertha players didn't follow social distancing guidelines and celebrated together after scoring, which caused a few raised eyebrows.

Speaking after the game, Ibisevic expressed delight with the performance and explained why he didn't keep a distance to his teammates in the heat of the moment.

"The break was good for me personally, we kept physically fit under the new coach. The whole team worked very well, so we deserved to win. I'm very happy to have scored and I just try to enjoy every game," Ibisevic said in an interview after the game and added:

"As for my goal celebrations: We've been waiting a long time to play again, then you score - you live for such moments as a striker, so it was very difficult for me personally to keep control of my emotions. I'm sorry that I couldn't manage that at that moment, but we are passionate footballers and not robots."

After the game, the German Football League (DFL) made it clear that players will not be punished for not acting in accordance with social distancing measures when celebrating.
