Since joining Borussia Mönchengladbach from Stade Rennais last summer, Ramy Bensebaini has had to share playing time at left-back with Oscar Wendt.

And while the 25-year-old admits that he would prefer to be in the line-up every week, he says he knew from the start that there would he competition for places at Borussia-Park.

When asked about his competition with Wendt for Gladbach's left-back berth, Bensebaini told Kicker:

"All players would like to be in the line-up every time, of course. It's no different with me. But I was aware from the beginning that I had a strong competitor in Oscar, who has been at the club for a long time. The competitive situation does us both good."

Bensebaini scored and made an assist against Eintracht Frankfurt after being given the nod ahead of Wendt last week, but that doesn't mean that he's certain to keep his starting spot against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, Gladbach coach Marco Rose said on Thursday.

"I think the coach is happy to have two strong players in his position. Ultimately, it's up to him to decide who plays. That will also be the case against Leverkusen," Bensebaini said and added:

"I hope I was able to convince the coach. But I don't know if it was enough to start again."
