Hamburger SV got a terrible start to life in the 2. Bundesliga as the club were beaten 0-3 by Holstein Kiel in their first match of the new season.

Ivica Olic - a former HSV player and now assistant coach of the Croatian national team - says he believes the players of his former club underestimated their opponent.

"I'm worried and surprised that my former team took so many risks against Kiel. I suppose that HSV thought they were Barcelona, Bayern or Real Madrid," Olic told Bild and added:

"One thing must be very clear when playing in the 2. Bundesliga. The football there has nothing to do with the Bundesliga. Logically, there is less quality to find there - but much more passion."

Olic, who represented HSV from 2007-2009 and 2015-2016, played in the 2. Bundesliga for 1860 München in the 2016/17 season.
