Kevin Volland is expected to sign a contract extension with Bayer Leverkusen in the near future, according to Sport Bild.

The 27-year-old is out of contract next year, and Leverkusen are eager to tie him down to a new deal until 2024, as per the report.

"Kevin is a very important player for us, and we are working hard to get him to extend his contract," said Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes.

Should he ink a new contract, Volland could increase his annual salary from €4 million to €6 million, which would make him one of the best-paid players at BayArena.

Volland, who recently made his return from a syndesmotic ligament tear, has made 36 appearances for Leverkusen this season with 11 goals and nine assists to his name.
