Report: Schalke desperate to offload Sebastian Rudy

Sebastian Rudy and Schalke 04 will be looking to part ways this summer.
Schalke 04 want to offload Sebastian Rudy to get his annual salary of €6 million off their books, according to Bild.

The 30-year-old has never really fit in at Veltins-Arena after his €16 million move from Bayern München in 2018 and spent last season on loan at Hoffenheim.

Rudy expressed interest in staying at Hoffenheim, and while the interest seemed to be mutual, 'Die Krachgauer' couldn't afford to trigger the €6 million release clause in his loan deal in light of the corona crisis.

Because Rudy doesn't appear to have a lot of suitors, Schalke might have to sell him for less than the fee mentioned above or send him out on loan again, as per Bild, who speculates that they could even let the midfielder go for free.

Rudy's contract with Schalke expires in 2022.
