Ramy Bensebaini has proven that he can play as a number six without any problems, says Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Marco Rose.

The 25-year-old usually occupies the left-back position, but played as a defensive midfielder in Gladbach's 4-0 win over VVV-Venlo in a friendly on Friday.

"With Rami, it was a little experiment. We trust him to play this position. He did very well," Gladbach coach Marco Rose told Kicker.

"We know he's an exceptional footballer and what he can do, even when he has his opponents behind him. Of course, we continue to see him primarily as a wing-back and full-back. But the game in Venlo showed that he has what it takes to play at the number six position. He won many headers and is capable of playing this position in terms of football ability," he added.

Denis Zakaria is a certain starter at the number six position when fit, but still has some way to go in his recovery from the knee injury that has kept him out since March. With this in mind, Rose is pleased to know that he can count on Bensebaini to step into midfield if needed.

"[Denis Zakaria] takes small steps from day to day, but he will need a little more time. That's why it's important that we have options for the number six position," he said.
